The No Glass campaign, launched late last year to encourage people to not place glass items in the green top bin, has from early reports seen positive results.
The contents of the green lid general waste bins from residents in the Cities of Joondalup, Vincent and Wanneroo and the Town of Victoria Park go to the Resource Recovery Facility in Neerabup, have the organics removed and is turned into a composted soil conditioner. Audits of the trucks since the campaign have shown a significant drop in the amount of glass in each load compared to that from before the campaign.
The ‘No Glass’ stickers applied to all bins had high visibility and resident surveys have indicated that the message was very clear. Early reports have shown that the campaign has been positively received by the residents with them placing glass bottles and jars in the yellow top recycling bin.
