During the first part of 2010, the Town of Cambridge and the MRC partnered in an innovative recycling trial with approximately 1000 households and commercial properties in the Wembley/Floreat area. During the trial people were asked to separate their household waste in a different way, using a simple Clean 2-Stream bin system.
The aim of the trial was to assess the amount of material collected and evaluate the efficiency of how it is recycled and reused. Eventually we hope to reduce the amount of organic and recyclable materials going to landfill. This is one of six projects being undertaken by the MRC with funding support from the Waste Authority to improve waste management in the region.
