Communication and education are essential to the safety of all persons in overcoming the challenges posed by my operating a sustainable and environmentally friendly waste management facility.

The Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is committed to ensuring that the physical and psychological health and safety of its workers, contractors and visitors is protected whilst they are engaged with the MRC.
Our commitment to fulfilling legal and social health and safety responsibilities extends to ensuring that all hazards and risks to health and safety are eliminated or minimised, as far as is reasonably practicable, by implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and practices to provide a healthy and safe place of work.
Statement of Commitment
To fulfil this commitment, the MRC will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards and best practices by:
- providing a workplace that enables all work activities to be carried out safely,
- providing and maintaining safe systems of work,
- providing information, instruction, training and supervision to support these systems,
- adopting a risk management approach which is consistent with the nature of tasks and activities,
- taking all reasonably practicable measures to eliminate or minimise risks to the health, safety and welfare of workers, contractors, visitors, and local community members who may be affected by our operations,
- consulting and cooperating with health and safety representatives, workers and others,
- ensuring that nominated safety personnel are adequately trained and supported,
- providing and maintaining personal protective equipment as required; and
- continuously reviewing and improving our own safety performance.
In supporting this commitment to safety, all workers agree to:
- comply with all safe work practices, with the intent of avoiding injury to themselves and others and avoiding damage to plant and equipment,
- take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and others,
- stop work where there is a perceived or actual unacceptable risk to their individual safety, or the safety of those around them,
- wear personal protective equipment and clothing where necessary,
- comply with all reasonable directions given by management with regards to health and safety,
- not misuse or interfere with system or process provided for health and safety,
- report all accidents and incidents on the job immediately,
- report all known or observed hazards to their supervisor or manager.
Contractors are expected to comply with all of the MRC’s safety policies and procedures whilst on site. The two documents listed below provide valuable information to contractors and should be reviewed prior to arriving on site. Additional documentation and guidance may be exchanged as required.
Site inductions are mandatory and must be completed prior to the commencement of any works. Inductions can be arranged via your relevant site contact or by contacting the administration office. Inductions are conducted between the hours of 0700-1500, Monday to Friday, unless otherwise arranged.
Contractors coming onto the Tamala Park site to work are required to undertake an Induction briefing.
